Let's Talk Turkey

Let's Talk Turkey

Thanksgiving has a way of gathering everyone into the warm glow of togetherness. Families and friends drift in from near and far, filling the house with familiar laughter, long-missed conversations, and the comforting sense that—for at least one day—life slows down enough for everyone to truly reconnect. The aroma of roasting turkey, sweet spices, and fresh baked pies wraps around the room like a hug, reminding everyone why this holiday feels so special. It’s a moment to share stories, express gratitude, and appreciate the people who make life richer simply by being part of it.

And of course, there’s something magical about everyone arriving in their best—whether it’s a favorite cozy sweater, a crisp button-down, or a festive dress saved just for the occasion. The table becomes a vibrant scene of good food and good spirits, with dishes passed hand to hand and compliments shared as freely as the laughter. Surrounded by loved ones, Thanksgiving turns into a celebration not just of abundance, but of belonging.

At our home you will find each of our traditional favorite dishes passed down from mothers and grandmothers.  My grandmother’s dressing, my husband’s grandmother’s green beans, my mother’s cranberry salad, and so on. Each one handmade and filled with memories of years past and faces we miss. We add new dishes as our family grows and blend their traditions seamlessly into ours. Of course you all know I’ll be wearing my favorite Johnny Was velvet kimono and you will hear my Julie Vos gold bangles clinking softly as we pass the sweet potato pie! My son will smile and say I’m “extra” which is exactly what I am!  Lol  I wish you all love and joy this week and I hope you celebrate in your own way with people who bring you joy!
